THE OFTEN MISUNDERSTOOD LIMITED EDITION HAND PULLED PRINT
The images that I produce are limited edition hand pulled prints. They are etchings (many with aquatint), woodcuts, linocuts, monotypes and monoprints. These are not copies, photographic images, lazer or computer reproductions. Although, with certain limited exceptions, printmaking is a reproductive process, hand pulled limited edition prints are always made by the artist and printed by the artist, generally in small, numbered editions. Some, such as monotypes, are singular impression prints. Only one is made with an occasional "ghost", a lighter version of the print. I may run proofs of a print to determine what the final image for the edition will look like, and those proofs may be sold. Once the decision regarding the edition image is made, however, and the edition printed, signed and numbered, I do not make any more prints of that image. Because my prints are inked and run one at a time by me, there are inevitably small variations between prints. None of them are exactly alike. In some cases I make adjustments purposefully on each print in an edition using the same matrix or original image. These prints are Monoprints. In all cases, every print I produce is created individually by me and is an original and unique work of art.
